At minimum, request a product datasheet, technical drawing, performance curve, test conditions, material declaration, quality-control plan, warranty terms, packing specification, company registration information, certifications where applicable, and a sample inspection report. For custom motors, obtain a signed specification sheet before production.

3. Is a higher KV always better for a fixed-wing UAV motor?

No. Higher KV generally means higher no-load RPM per volt, but the correct KV depends on battery voltage, propeller diameter and pitch, aircraft weight, desired cruise speed, motor size, ESC capability, and thermal limits. An incorrectly high-KV motor can draw excessive current, overheat, and reduce endurance.

4. What is the difference between a fixed-wing motor and a multirotor drone motor?

Fixed-wing motors are selected around propeller efficiency, sustained cruise operation, climb requirements, airframe drag, and endurance. Multirotor motors are often optimized for rapid thrust changes and direct-drive propellers. Some outrunner motors can serve both applications, but the correct winding, KV, cooling, and propeller match can differ significantly.

5. What should I test during fixed-wing motor sample approval?

Test the exact motor with your intended propeller, voltage, ESC, wiring length, and cooling condition. Record thrust, RPM, current, voltage, input power, motor temperature, ESC temperature, vibration, noise, no-load current, and performance after sustained operation. Approve a retained golden sample before production begins.
